"There are no rules in songwriting that will assure your success," says Braheny. "But there are some basic principles and techniques that are understood by successful writers, that will get you a lot closer. Whether you're writing alternative rock, hip-hop, pop or country, the more control you have over your craft, the better you communicate musically and lyrically."
John Braheny, author of the new 2nd Edition of The Craft and Business of Songwriting book, will discuss techniques and principles used in creating artistically and commercially successful songs as well as topics related to the marketing of songs, songwriter/performers and bands. Time permitting, songwriters will have an opportunity to have a song critiqued if they bring it on cassette or CD with a lyric sheet
